A mini skip is perfect for smaller projects, for example, if you are having a day tidying up your garden and will have lawn clippings, branches, weeds and leaves to dispose of.

In simple terms, the amount of waste that you can get into a 2-yard mini skip is up to 40 standard size (60L) black refuse bags full of rubbish. The next size up – the 4-yard skip – will take up to 80 standard size (60L) black refuse bags of rubbish and so on.
If you are uncertain as to whether the waste will be more or less than the amount stated, then it may be worth booking the next size up. This is because a skip must only ever be loaded so that the waste is level with the sides. Any more than this and the skip becomes illegal to transport on the road for safety reasons, therefore we may well be unable to collect it. And the last thing that you need is to have to partly unload a skip that you’ve just spent the day loading up.
Be realistic when estimating how much waste you want to dispose of, since hiring a second skip can be far more costly than hiring a larger size in the first place, not to mention the fact that having to hire another skip could well hold up your project.
